Anne's Wandering Mind

Why do writers avoid writing? Let's take my writer, Anne Manning, as an example.
Write what you know. This is the first bit of advice my sister muses and I offer an aspiring writer. But what if "what you know" is painful, traumatic, or just plain sad? What if you are unable to write what you think you want to write because of difficult times in your life? For the writer, bad times can become a wellspring of inspiration...and maybe you can help others who have suffered through their own unique troubles.
Every writer has a muse, though some are too stuck-up to admit it. I am Calliope, Anne Manning's muse and I'm going to dish the secrets behind Anne's (and my) books.
Calliope here. And I'm lonely. Where the heck is Anne? She's got me locked in this dungeon that she calls an office...yuk-yuk. And I'm so bored I'm tempted to take up Sudoku.
My muse, Calliope, is out of control. She used to be well-behaved, sitting quietly in the back of my mind, whispering words of inspiration. Now she's decided that she needs to write content for my webpage! The nerve!
